Pacific City is a small outdoor shopping area in Huntington Beach. Down the street from main street, it has fewer bars, more restaurants and an Equinox. The boardwalk is spacious with plenty of outdoor seating, a concrete ping pong table that is poorly placed next to a concrete planters box, but conveniently placed outlets inside planter boxes. The Equinox has plenty of open space but unlike the one located in Irvine it lacks a basketball court, a tennis court, and a cross fit area on the roof.
Imagine if BJ's had a smaller menu, no pizzas, beer made from twenty different companies and had outdoor seating, that is what Simmzy's is. They have interesting desserts and a large selection of beers but if you're looking for something substantial to eat this place errs on the smaller portioned side so you might not be full for long if you eat here. The highlight of this place is definitely the chocolate pudding; it is a rich caramel based dessert served in a glass goblet topped with two peanut butter cookies. It may look small at the onset but you can't really eat more than a few bites before you're overwhelmed by how sweet it all is. The cookies are good though.
SaiNT Marc's PUB and the bacon bar
There is a food court area that houses a pub and a bar that sell only bacon and bacon accessories upstairs in the far end of the plaza it's currently comprised of only Saint Marc's Pub and the Bacon Bar which each have their own quirks as a dining experience. The Bacon Bar is a counter top area where you can pick from different types of smoked bacon where as Saint Marc's Pub is more reminiscent of an open air spacious version of Simmzy's.
I like to go to Saint Marc's Pub when Simmzy's isn't open or when it's is packed because the food court is so much bigger that it is easier to get seated. I would rate the service in both places to be about the same at both places: lousy. Saint Marc's uses an iPad as a waiter and it crashes so frequently that you have to flag down a waiter to place your order; which is much easier than Simmzy's where you need a team of people to get anything from anybody especially when it is packed. It seems to be less of an issue with the waiters themselves and more an issue with their seating capacity and management, the narrow spaces inbetween the tables makes it hard for the waiters to place food down and serve which cuts down on efficiency which means I have to wait.
Why you should go here
You shouldn't. It's not completely built yet and Simmzy's service during lunch time is abominable. The portions are too small at Saint Marc's and Simmzy's, the Equinox doesn't have a basketball court and it doesn't seem like they are going to build one anytime soon.
You should come here if you want something different from the typical downtown area. This place was made for middle class to upper class thirty to forty year old's who have children and are looking for a place to shop and grab a bite to eat at a moderate price around Huntington Beach but don't want to bump into the tourists that come with the US Surf Open.
