Just this weekend I watched Galaxy Quest on Netflix for what seems like the 20th time. And as neurotic as that makes me sound it is because I am neurotic and everyone who doesn't love Alan Rickman in that film is an idiot. But I digress. It's hard to encompass how people or books impact your life when you are viewing them from the other side of a page or a screen. How can you ever know a person who plays another person written by another someone through the lens of a cinematographer. Well, you can't, and it is unfortunate because Alan Rickman brought to life so many characters that changed both my life and the lives of my friends. I don't do tribute posts to actors often, because it seems strange to commemorate the memory of a person I hardly knew if not just for his work but maybe that just speaks to how much Galaxy Quest and Harry Potter have affected my life and my generation.
